The basics
How to play Ultimate Frisbee
The casual version of the rules. log8 shows the same guide in the app, on the game's page.
- Players7 a side on the field. Casual games use whoever turns up.
- How to winScore more points than the other team. Games are often played to 15.
- The official gameWFDF writes the rules. Most games have no referee, so fair play matters.
- How groups differCasual games often play 5 a side on a smaller field, to 11 or 13. Agree before you start.
- You score by catching the disc in the end zone you are attacking.
- Don’t run with the disc. Stop, pivot on one foot, and throw within 10 seconds.
- If the disc is dropped, hits the ground or goes out, the other team takes over.
- No contact. Players call their own fouls.
- After every point, teams swap ends. The team that just scored throws the disc to the other.
- Play fair and respect everyone. This is called the Spirit of the Game.

- Cut hard to open space.
- Throw to where your teammate will be, not where they are.
- Learn both the backhand and the forehand throw.
- On defence, stay between the thrower and the end zone.

- Pick the game and the playersChoose Ultimate Frisbee, then everyone who played. Friends without log8 can join as guests.
- Enter the resultRecord the winner or a draw, with the score if you kept it.
- The other players approveFriends on log8 get 48 hours to approve it, or tap Disagree if it is wrong. Guests count straight away. A result nobody answers closes without counting.
- Your record updatesOnce it is official it counts toward your head-to-head records, group board, badges and cups.
