How to play Spades
The casual version of the rules. log8 shows the same guide in the app, on the game's page.
- Players4 players in two teams. Partners sit opposite.
- How to winFirst team to 500 points.
- How groups differMany groups take 100 points off once a team has 10 extra tricks. Agree before you start.
- Deal all 52 cards. Spades always beat the other suits.
- Each player bids how many tricks they think they’ll take. Partners add their bids together.
- Follow the suit that was led. If you can’t, you can play a spade.
- The highest spade takes the trick. With no spades, the highest card of the suit led takes it.
- You can’t lead spades until one has been played.
- Make your bid and score 10 a trick, plus 1 for each extra. Miss it and lose 10 a trick.

- Pick the game and the playersChoose Spades, then everyone who played. Friends without log8 can join as guests.
- Enter the resultRecord who won.
- The other players approveFriends on log8 get 48 hours to approve it, or tap Disagree if it is wrong. Guests count straight away. A result nobody answers closes without counting.
- Your record updatesOnce it is official it counts toward your head-to-head records, group board, badges and cups.
